PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Kevin and Theresa Lisch of Saint Louis, the Atlantic 10 Men's & Women's Basketball Student-Athletes of the Year, are among seven student-athletes from the Conference named to the I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Basketball Scholar-Athlete All-America Team. The A-10 had six of the 26 selections to lead all conferences.   Full Story

Head Coach Dr. John Giannini has his second winning season already secured. Now, La Salle looks to position itself for a possible post-season bid to a tournament but first still needs to lay more groundwork with the season’s final two games against A-10 foes Fordham on senior night before traveling to St. Louis for the conference finale.   Full Story

With their most recent loss on Wednesday night, a frustrating 62-53 decision to the Richmond Spiders, La Salle once again fell below the .500 mark in Atlantic 10 conference play. Poor shooting and defensive lapses sealed the Spiders’ web and once again left Explorers fans wondering why the program cannot get over the proverbial hump.   Full Story

La Salle has won 7 of its last 9 games. The recent resurgence can be traced to one player. The player that has the ball in his hands most of the time and the player that wants the ball with the game on the line. He is the player that the team leans on. Everyone close to the La Salle program knew the early part of the conference schedule was going to be very difficult. After losing the conference opener to Temple and defeating Charlotte on the road for the first time ever, La Salle struggled with 15th ranked Xavier at the Cintas Center and the Explorers left still searching for that first signature win.   Full Story

La Salle begins Atlantic 10 Conference play this weekend against city rival Temple. The Explorers are currently 8-5 but have no impressive victories and 0-4 against Top 100 teams. Yet La Salle may be playing their best basketball now so the question begs to be asked. Can La Salle be an Atlantic 10 contender or are they a pretender. For many one of the keys to the Explorers’ season was the continued development of Ruben Guillandeaux. Many thought this would be his breakout year. After 11 games it was far from that as the junior guard has struggled with consistency and confidence issues. Yesterday, Guillandeaux gave everyone a taste of his talent.    Full Story

La Salle lost another double digit second half lead at Cornell yesterday. Playing without junior center Vernon Goodridge the Explorers were hurt on the inside by Cornell’s 7 footer big man Jeff Foote and lost to the Big Red 79-70.   Full Story

La Salle has beaten the teams it should beat and probably have lost to teams it should have lost to just nine games into the 2008-2009 seasons. If the fans were to title the movie for the season thus far they might name it - opportunities missed. A win over Rider showed what the Explorers are capable of. Can the Explorers get out basketball purgatory and be a factor in the Atlantic 10?   Full Story
