Kyle Griffin: Will fulfill dream at La Salle
Griffin, who made his commitment to LaSalle in the fall, said, "I always wanted to play in Philadelphia", and "it has always been a goal of mine to play in the Atlantic 10 and Big 5." Griffin said, that he "fits in well" at LaSalle and feels that "being a skilled player with passing skills will help next year in getting his teammates involved." Griffin's natural position is point guard. At 6"3 he has good size and sees the floor well. He can also be deadly from the outside and his slick shooting skills will help add to the Explorer's long range arsenal next season.
When asked about the transition from high school to college, Griffin said that "quickness, strength, athleticism, defense, and becoming a better playmaker" are parts of his game, which he is looking to improve. For those who know Kyle Griffin, putting in long hours is nothing new for the consummate "gym rat" who has worked feverishly on his game since coming to Germantown Academy after initially attending Allentown Central Catholic high school.
Recently Griffin missed several weeks with mono-like symptoms but recently returned in style scoring 21 points in his first game back against arch-rival Penn Charter on January 12th. Griffin said, "it feels great" that the recruiting process is over, and "a lot of pressure is off me" which "allows myself to have fun my senior year." So while Griffin will have his fun this season knowing he has his college plans wrapped up, he also knows it is a big step making the jump from star high school player into the rugged Atlantic 10 conference. Explorer fans will be pleased to know Griffin will put in the needed work to become an integral part of Coach John Giannini's La Salle program while living his dream of playing basketball in Philadelphia, in the Atlantic 10, and in the Big 5.
